A new year's eve skin up santa fe ski basin was a fantastic way to finish the year. Janine, Jen, Aaron and I left the parking lot around 6:3opm... we were greated by our own "torchlight" parade down the mountain as our friends Scott, Margaret, Gretel, and were coming down shortly after we started up. A quick chat with them and we were on our way. The view of Santa Fe at night from the top of the ski area beautiful and vast, thousands of twinkling lights, from Bernallilo to Velarde. A just reward for the hard work. After a quick toast on top of the mountain, it was a cruddy ski (sno cats were half done grooming the upper mtn) we were rewarded with a bit of corduroy. The big reward was an amazing 3 course fondue dinner at Jen and Aarons, a great night.
My new years resolution ride on new years day consisted of the 50 mile century loop on the cross bike, out to Galisteo, across to 14, then back into town on NM14. I did it at a nice casual pace. It was a great day for a ride.
